home > applications > residual chlorine on a medical deviceResidual Chlorine on a Medical DeviceTechnique Used: Ion Chromatography A medical device manufacturer exposes a polymer coil to hydrochloric acid and wanted to know whether chlorine leached out of the coil during subsequent immersion in water. The polymer coils were allowed to soak overnight in deionized water at room temperature. The chlorine content of the water was measured using ion chromatography (IC). The result is shown in the figure below.
